For those who like to read about Traditional Chinese Medicine in relation to Bladder or Kidney stones:According to traditional Chinese medicine, kidney and urinary stones are known as "shi lin", which literally means painful urination due to stones.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) states that bladder/kidney stones are caused by the internal accumulation of pathological heat and dampness. As a result of this toxic accumulation then causes the dog to become vulnerable to the weakening of the bladder (kidney system).
As this weakness progresses this pathological accumulation of heat and dampness will proceeds to decoct the urine to decoct into the stone formation (remember we speak in metaphorical terms).
The other big problem as we see it and it is a well known fact that once there is a formation bladder or kidneys stones, it's most likely that a dog will continue to develop and form stones for the rest of their lives! Sad but true.

PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS & CHINESE MEDICINE: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
Western Medical Approach: Dog (kidney and bladder stones) are two conditions that often occur together. In western medicine, if these two conditions are asymptomatic, treatment may not be necessary, as risks often outweigh the benefits. If symptomatic, alkalinization of the urine may be effective for uric acid stones, but not for other types of stones. In most cases, dog kidney and dog bladder stones can only be treated with invasive treatments such as surgery or ultrasound disruption therapy.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Approach: Dog
kidney and bladder stones are two conditions that may be successfully treated with herbs. The mechanisms of action of herbs are to help the dog naturally dissolve and expel stones from the kidney or urinary bladder.
